SENATE BILL 140

 

 

AN ACT TO ADD TWO MEMBERS TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW COMMISSION, AS RECOMMENDED BY THE ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW COMMISSION.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  G.S. 120-70.42 reads as rewritten: 

"§ 120-70.42.  Membership; cochairmencochairs; vacancies; quorum.

The Environmental Review Commission shall consist of five six Senators appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, five six Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who shall serve at the pleasure of their appointing officer, the Chairman Chair of the Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, and the Chairman Chair of the House of Representatives Committee on the Environment.  The President Pro Tempore of the Senate shall designate one Senator to serve as cochairman cochair and the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall designate one Representative to serve as cochairmancochair.  Any vacancy which occurs on the Environmental Review Commission shall be filled in the same manner as the original appointment.  A quorum of the Environmental Review Commission shall consist of seven eight members."

Section 2.  This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to any appointments for terms beginning on or after that date.
