HOUSE BILL 435

 

AN ACT TO ALLOW ABSENTEE VOTING IN OLD FORT TOWN ELECTIONS CONDUCTED BY THE MUNICIPAL BOARD OF ELECTIONS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  The Charter of the Town of Old Fort, being Chapter 271, Private Laws of 1911, is amended by adding a new section to read:

"Sec. 11.1.  Absentee Voting.  Absentee voting shall be allowed in the Town of Old Fort if city elections are conducted by a municipal board of elections, and any references in G.S. 163-302 that refer to the county board of elections shall, for the Town of Old Fort, refer to the municipal board of elections if city elections are conducted by a municipal board of elections.  The State Board of Elections may adopt rules to regulate this section."

Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective with respect to all elections held on or after July 1, 1993.
