SENATE BILL 42

 

AN ACT TO PERMIT ABC BOARDS IN CLEVELAND COUNTY TO CONTRACT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 12 of Chapter 832 of the 1969 Session Laws, any local ABC Board in Cleveland County may, instead of hiring local ABC officers, contract to pay its enforcement funds to a sheriff's department, city police department, or other local law enforcement agency for enforcement of the ABC laws.  The department or agency contracting for said services shall designate one of its officers as an alcohol control officer, and said designated officer shall have the same authority to inspect under G.S. 18B-502 that an ABC officer employed by the local board would have and shall have county-wide jurisdiction.

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this act are repealed.

Sec. 3.  This act is effective upon ratification.
