AN ACT TO ALLOW A SANITARY DISTRICT TO ENGAGE IN LITIGATION OR JOIN WITH OTHERS IN LITIGATION OPPOSING THE WITHDRAWAL OF WATER FROM A RIVER OR OTHER WATER SUPPLY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  Chapter 130 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new section to read:

"§ 130-128.1.  Withdrawal of water. - A sanitary district is empowered to engage in litigation or to join with other parties in litigation opposing the withdrawal of water from a river or other water supply."

Sec. 2.  This act is effective upon ratification.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 10th day of March, 1983.
