AN ACT TO INCREASE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF PITT COUNTY DRAINAGE DISTRICT NUMBER THREE FROM THREE PERSONS AS IS PROVIDED BY G.S. 156-79 TO FIVE PERSONS.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of G.S. 156-79, the Board of Commissioners of Pitt County Drainage District Number Three consists of five members, effective July 1, 1979.

Sec. 2.  Four members of the Board of Commissioners of Pitt County Drainage District Number Three shall be appointed by the Clerk of Superior Court of Pitt County for three-year terms.  One member shall be appointed by the Clerk of Superior Court of Craven County for a three-year term.  Vacancies shall be filled by the appointing officer.

Sec. 3.  In order to expand the size of the Board from three members to five members, the Clerk of Superior Court of Pitt County shall, on or before July 1, 1979, appoint one person to serve from July 1, 1979, until September 30, 1982, and the Clerk of Superior Court of Craven County shall, on or before July 1, 1979, appoint one person to serve from July 1, 1979, until September 30, 1982.

Sec. 4.  This act is effective upon ratification.
