AN ACT TO TRANSFER THE NORTH CAROLINA CRIMINAL JUSTICE TRAINING AND STANDARDS COUNCIL TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE.
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:
Section 1. Article 6 of Chapter 143A of the General Statutes of North Carolina is hereby amended by adding a new section at the end thereof to read:
"§ 143A-55.1. North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Council; transfer. — The North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Council, as created by Chapter 17A of the General Statutes and laws of this State, is hereby transferred by a Type II transfer to the Department of Justice."
Sec. 2. G.S. 17A-6 is amended by rewriting subsection (8) to read as follows:
"(8) The Attorney General shall appoint a director from a list of three names recommended to him by the council. If, in the opinion of the Attorney General, none of the three persons recommended have the necessary qualifications for the position of director, the council shall submit another list of three names, from which the Attorney General shall appoint a director. The director shall be responsible to and shall serve at the pleasure of the Attorney General."
Sec. 3. This act shall become effective upon ratification.
