HOUSE BILL 304

 

AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE TO ADOPT AND ENACT ORDINANCES REGULATING THE REMOVAL, REPLACEMENT AND PRESERVATION OF TREES WITHIN THE CITY OF CHARLOTTE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

 

Section 1. The purpose and intent of this act is to authorize the City of Charlotte to adopt ordinances, only after holding public hearings, to regulate the removal of trees from public and private property within the City of Charlotte in order to preserve, protect and enhance one of the most valuable natural resources of the community and to protect the health, safety and welfare of its citizens.

Sec. 2. This act shall apply only to the City of Charlotte.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This act shall become effective upon its ratification.
