AN ACT TO GIVE THE CONSENT OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA TO THE CESSION OF CONCURRENT JURISDICTION TO THE UNITED STATES OVER LAND WHICH IS TO CONSTITUTE THE SITE OF THE PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL OF THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF PRISONS AT BUTNER, NORTH CAROLINA.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Concurrent jurisdiction in and over any lands acquired by the United States as the site of a psychiatric hospital in Granville and Durham Counties shall be, and the same is hereby, ceded to the United States for all purposes, but the concurrent jurisdiction so ceded shall not affect the service upon such site of all civil and criminal process of the courts of this State, and shall continue no longer than the said United States shall own such lands. The land which is the subject of this cession of concurrent jurisdiction to the United States consists of 769.88 acres of land, more or less, located in part in Granville County and in part in Durham County, and is described in a deed of conveyance between the State of North Carolina to the United States of America, dated December 18, 1963, and recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds in Durham County in Book 308, at page 431, and also recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Granville County in Book 164, at page 23.

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
