SENATE BILL 416

 

 

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR INSTRUCTION IN DRIVER TRAINING AND SAFETY EDUCATION IN THE PRIVATE SCHOOLS OF THE STATE AND TO PERMIT 16-18 YEAR OLD GRADUATES OF SUCH COURSES TO APPLY FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR'S LICENSE.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  Subsection (a) of G.S. 20-11, as the same appears in the 1965 Replacement Volume 1C of the General Statutes, is amended by adding the following language at the end thereof:

"or upon having satisfactorily completed a course of driving instruction offered at a licensed commercial driver training school or an approved non public secondary school, provided instruction offered in such schools shall be approved by the State Commissioner of Motor Vehicles and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and all expenses for such instruction shall be paid by the persons enrolling in such courses and/ or by the schools offering them."

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall be in full force and effect on and after July 1, 1967.
