HOUSE BILL 552

AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 446, PUBLIC-LOCAL LAWS OF 1931, RELATING TO THE EMERGENCY AND PENSION FUND FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN MECKLENBURG COUNTY.

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

Section 1. Chapter 446, Public-Local Laws of 1931, is hereby amended by adding the following to Section 5 thereof:

"Further, the monthly disability benefits may be increased annually at the rate of one per cent (1%) of the total compensation paid the eligible member during the preceding year. Provided, however, the monthly disability benefits paid by the fund to the eligible member shall not exceed eighty per cent (80%) of his monthly salary at the time of disability."

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.
