HOUSE BILL 283

 

 

AN ACT RELATING TO THE APPROPRIATION IN CHAPTER 916 OF THE SESSION LAWS OF 1965 WITH RESPECT TO RENOVATION OF THE EDGERTON BUILDING AT DOROTHEA DIX HOSPITAL.

 

WHEREAS, the sum of one hundred and ninety thousand dollars ($190,000.00) was appropriated with respect to Dorothea Dix Hospital by Chapter 916 of the Session Laws of 1965 to renovate the Edgerton Building; and

WHEREAS, it was understood that the renovation was for the purpose of patient occupancy; and

WHEREAS, the State Department of Mental Health has concluded it would be more advantageous to use such funds to renovate the Edgerton Building to accommodate the central research facilities of said Department rather than for patient occupancy: Now, therefore,

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  The one hundred and ninety thousand dollar ($190,000.00) appropriation made by Chapter 916 of the Session Laws of 1965 to renovate the Edgerton Building of Dorothea Dix Hospital may be expended to renovate said building for purposes of accommodating the central research facilities of the North Carolina Department of Mental Health in lieu of making such renovation for patient occupancy purposes.

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall become effective upon its ratification.

In the General Assembly read three times and ratified, this the 4th day of April, 1967.
