HOUSE BILL 1217

 

 

AN ACT APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO THE NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOR ENFORCING LAWS RELATING TO THE SALE OF APPLES AND PEACHES.

 

WHEREAS, apple and peach growers of this State are interested in promoting and providing apples and peaches of the highest quality to the consuming public; and,

WHEREAS, apple and peach growers recognize the importance of all sales and receptacles of standardized products conforming to the requirements of such standards; and

WHEREAS, there are sufficient laws, rules, and regulations already in effect which require sales and receptacles of standardized products to conform to the requirements of such standards, but there is a lack of funds to enforce such laws, rules, and regulations; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the consuming public as well as apple and peach growers to be protected by adequate inspection to prevent misbranding, or mislabeling, or deception: Now, therefore,

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1.  There is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the State to the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, in addition to all other appropriations, the sum of seventeen thousand dollars ($17,000.00) for the fiscal years beginning July 1, 1967, and ending June 30, 1969, for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of G.S. 106-188, G.S. 106-189 and G.S. 106-197 as they relate to apples and peaches.

Sec. 2.  All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3.  This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after July 1, 1967.
