HOUSE BILL 1246

 

 

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT ANY AGREEMENT AMONG THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES OF THE POLITICAL PARTIES IN HAYWOOD, HENDERSON, JACKSON, POLK AND TRANSYLVANIA COUNTIES RELATIVE TO THE ROTATION AMONG SUCH COUNTIES OF CANDIDATES FOR THE STATE SENATE SHALL NO LONGER BE OF ANY FORCE AND EFFECT AND TO PROVIDE THAT CANDIDATES SHALL BE SELECTED AT LARGE FROM THE SENATORIAL DISTRICT WHICH SUCH COUNTIES COMPRISE, EXCEPT THAT NO MORE THAN ONE CANDIDATE SHALL BE SELECTED FROM ANY ONE COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. Any agreement now existing among the executive committees of the political parties in Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Polk and Transylvania Counties relative to the rotation among such counties or combinations of them of candidates for the State Senate is hereby dissolved and shall no longer be of any force and effect. From and after the ratification of this Act candidates for the State Senate from the senatorial district comprised of Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Polk and Transylvania counties shall be selected at large from such district; provided, that no more than one candidate from any political party shall be selected from any one of such counties.

Sec. 2. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
