AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF ROCKY MOUNT TO CONVEY CERTAIN REAL ESTATE TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE ROCKY MOUNT ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT OF THE PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Rocky Mount is the owner of a tract of land containing approximately 30 acres fronting on Fairview Road that is not needed for municipal purposes and the Rocky Mount City Board of Education is desirous of acquiring the same as a site for a school building; and

WHEREAS, in the opinion of the city council, the public interest will be best served by utilizing the land for school purposes: Now, therefore,

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. The governing body of the City of Rocky Mount, in the exercise of its discretion, is authorized to sell privately that certain tract of land containing approximately 30 acres fronting on Fairview Road in the City of Rocky Mount to the Rocky Mount City Board of Education and its successors in office, for such consideration and upon such consideration as may be agreed upon between the parties, and upon receipt of the said consideration the mayor and city clerk, when authorized so to do by the city council are empowered to execute deed in the name of the City of Rocky Mount conveying the said property in fee simple.

Sec. 2. Sections 2 and 59 of Chapter 160 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, to the extent that they conflict with this Act, are repealed, and all other laws and clauses of laws in conflict with the Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 3. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
