AN ACT TO INCREASE THE CIVIL JURISDICTION OF THE DAVIDSON COUNTY COURT.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. It is the intent and purpose of this Act to increase the civil jurisdiction of the Davidson County Court and make the same concurrent with the Superior Court in civil actions founded in tort and in contract in which the amount involved, exclusive of interest and costs, does not exceed twenty-five hundred dollars ($2500.00).

Sec. 2. Section 20 of Chapter 82 of the Public-Local Laws of 1933 is hereby amended by rewriting subsection (a) of the second unnumbered paragraph thereof to read as follows:

"(a)      Concurrent jurisdiction with the Superior Courts of North Carolina in all civil actions founded in tort or in contract in which the amount involved, exclusive of interest and costs, does not exceed twenty-five hundred dollars ($2500.00)."

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. This Act shall be in full force and effect from and after its ratification.
