HOUSE BILL 141

 

 

AN ACT RELATING TO THE COMPENSATION OF CERTAIN OFFICIALS OF RUTHERFORD COUNTY.

 

The General Assembly of North Carolina do enact:

 

Section 1. In lieu of the compensation provided for members of the board of county commissioners in Section 1 of Chapter 566 of the Session Laws of 1957, each member of the board of county commissioners shall be paid thirty dollars ($30.00) per day, plus actual expenses but not including any travel allowance, for each day he is engaged in the performance of his duties as a county commissioner or as a member of the County Board of Equalization and Review and shall be paid an amount, in the discretion of the board of county commissioners, not exceeding twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per day, plus actual expenses including reasonable travel allowance, for each day he is engaged in the performance of official duties on behalf of the board of county commissioners when so authorized by the county board of commissioners.

Sec. 2. The board of county commissioners, in its discretion, is hereby authorized to increase the salaries of the sheriff, the register of deeds, and the Clerk of the Superior Court to amounts not exceeding by more than five percent (5%) their salaries as fixed, respectively, by Section 1 of Chapter 566 of the Session Laws of 1957.

Sec. 3. All laws and clauses of laws in conflict with this Act are hereby repealed.

Sec. 4. Section 1 of this Act shall be effective on or after its ratification, and Section 2 of this Act shall be effective on and after July 1, 1959.
